Mel & Trevor at Kingfisher Hotel & Country Club

Documentary style photographer based in Milton Keynes

Last month, on one of those warm sunny days, I had the pleasure of shooting Mel and Trevor’s nuptials. These two were so lovely to work with- They are a super relaxed couple who had a clear desire for their celebration: To throw an amazing party that brings everyone they love together and that they did!

The Venue, Kingfisher Hotel & Country Club, was perfect for this. The venue itself had this wonderful outdoor terrace which overlooked the Club’s lake. This space was such a sun trap and it was so lovely you felt like you could be a warmer climate, not far from Milton Keynes. The staff and space provided the perfect place for everyone to let their hair down, have a couple of glasses of fizz and when the time came, jump on the dance floor!

My particular highlight of the day was the ceremony. Mel and Trevor had started connecting via a dating app just as Covid restrictions were easing, in their personalised vows they both spoke of their distanced first date, how quickly they both fell for each other and how enriched their lives had become since meeting one another. Trevor in particular was very emotional throughout the day but especially during the ceremony which warmed not only mine and their guests hearts but also their registrars from Northamptonshire county council. It was hear not to get swept away by all the emotion in the room but it was such a joy for me to document.

When I spoke to Mel prior to the wedding we discussed any particular shots they wanted, like group shots or a specific location at the venue, well I was shocked when she said they had no requests. She said all they wanted was to enjoy their day, speak to their fiends, relax and party. The result was I got to fully integrate myself in the atmosphere of their wedding. I enjoyed wandering around, snapping little moments and it wasn’t hard to find the love- Everyone was so happy to be celebrating with them! The result is a authentic gallery filled with real moments and genuine emotions and as a documentary style photographer this was perfect for me.

Some gorgeous details from their day:

Subtle Luton FC themed flowers, New Louboutin heels for Mel and accompanying door matt, memorial bouquet charm, Mel wore a bracelet with a ‘M’ and another with a ‘T’, Lovely looking cakes, plenty of drink to go around, Beautiful flowers, Post box card box.
